Kai Huang – Co-Founder of Red Octane and its President and CEO since 1999. The company published the popular Guitar Hero franchise and was acquired by Activision in June 2006.

Alejandro Gil – joined EA at the beginning of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and then spent 4 intense years as Co-Founder and Creative Director at Blackpoint Studios. He returned to EA to help finish Godfather 2 and is now Lead Environment Artist at Sledgehammer Games.

Simon Amarasingham – Co-Founder and CEO of dSonic Inc., a company that has been creating audio for games for 10 years including titles such as Brutal Legend, Bioshock and Farmville.

More Speakers for Game Demo Night

WHEN: Wednesday September 30, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Cogswell College


Bioroid Studios:
Founder, Martin Robaszewski, will talk about his wild and wooly (you think I kid, look at the costume on his website) experiences at Comic-Con with his series of XBOX Live Indie games about Cyborg Mice. He might even give us a peek at upcoming games in the Cyborg Mice universe.

Lazy 8 Studios:
Founder, Rob Jagnow, will present the gorgeously crafted independent game Cog and the philosophical insights gained. Two people made this game. Watch and weep!!

Terathon’s C4 Game Engine:
Eric Lengyel, Founder and CTO of Terathon Software will offer a brief introduction to the scope of the C4 Engine and its major features, demonstrate some of this year’s new features, their new proprietary integrated physics engine and an early look at the game they’re developing with the engine.

Maximo will speak about their upcoming products for streamlining the 3D motion animation process. Maximo is a local company and enjoys direct developer feedback on their new products so be sure to chat with them after the presentation.

IGDA Demo Night

Silicon Valley IGDA Game Demo Night gives new and seasoned game developers the chance to explore the latest games and game tools. Company representatives will share their experiences and then after the presentations, the audience will have a chance to talk to presenters and check out the demos.

Game Demo and Tool Presenters (as of 8-14-09):

Game monetization and microtransaction techniques are one of the hottest topics in game development right now. PlaySpan is a well known leader and pioneer in this area. CEO and Founder, Karl Mehta, and Lex Bayer, General Manager of Social Networking Monetization, will provide a demo of DDO Unlimited as well as an overview of the company’s new Ultimate Payment Wall for social network games. Developers will learn how they can use these platforms to tap into a new distribution mechanism while effectively monetizing their games and apps.

Fresh from Austin GDC, Danie Conradie, President and CEO, will talk about the latest developments in their multi-platform 3D game engine, including all new integrations with, and support for, some of the game industry’s leading technologies. Those who are interested can get more hands-on with the technology after the presentations.
