Two Cogswell graduates have officially checked out.

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Two recent Cogswell graduates have officially left the Sunnyvale campus to join some other graduates in Los Angeles. To be more specific, they are joining fellow Alumni Andrew Jennings, Ryan Rogers, and Joshua Cogswell at Rhythm & Hues, an Academy Award winning visual studio that specializes in animation and visual effects. The two Spring 2010 grads are Jessica DeLacy and Chris Evart., both in the Cogswell’s Digital Art and Animation program.

Both were working on the current Project X Film and have nothing but accolades from professors. On behalf of everyone in the online Cogswell world, congratulations to you both! You have the support of the faculty, students, and staff.

Also, stay tuned tomorrow for another installment of Cogswell Insiders!

What’s the Deal with Cogswell Housing?

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Cogswell College’s housing program is a little non-traditional since we house our students in off-campus apartments instead of dormitories. This gives students a housing experience that prepares them to live on their own in the future. At the same time, each of our apartment complexes has a Resident Assistant (RA) that lives on site so we don’t sacrifice the community building and social development that is so important in college housing. Our RAs are upper-classmen who have lived in student housing before and are there to help show newer students the ropes.

The RAs also organize a ton of events for housing students; everything from bowling or miniature golf to trips to parks, zoos and other attractions, game nights, movie nights or even a simple pot luck dinner or bbq at a resident’s apartment.  While our housing is primarily for first year students, we do have a small group of returning students who request to remain in housing each year.

Our apartment complexes Kensington Place and Avalon Parkside are located 1.2 and 3 miles from campus respectively, so they’re very convenient for students from out of town who may not know the area.  There’s also a bus line that runs past both complexes and within a few blocks of school, so students without a car can still get to and from class with ease.
