Cogswell College is pleased to announce that Worlds Apart, an animated, short film produced under the umbrella of the Project X class, is an Official Selection of the 3rd Annual San Jose Short Film Festival. The festival takes place from October 20 to 23, 2011.
The San Jose Short Film Festival (SJSFF) offers filmmakers from around the world, an opportunity to present their films in the best possible HD clarity before exuberant audiences in the heart of Silicon Valley. This year the festival is proud to bring the San Jose Short Film Festival to Santana Row, the premier shopping and dining destination in Silicon Valley. An ideal environment with over 12 million visitors each year, Santana Row has a natural attraction to its fabulous shops, upscale restaurants and Mediterranean-styled residential units.
As part of the Santana Row complex, CineMark’s CineArt Theatre, with its All Stadium Seating, State of the Art Digital Presentation in both 2D & 3D and Lobby Cafe, will serve as the host venue. Red Carpet Receptions follow the screenings and will include the Opening Night After-Party, the 3 Day Film Challenge Awards and the Closing Night After-Party, with drinks, hors d’oeuvres and prizes.
Project X is a one-of-a-kind, project-based class at Cogswell College that is run like a professional animation production studio using teams of skilled artists and sound designers. Students worked tirelessly for three semesters to produce a studio-quality short film. During production they are supported by a massive collaborative effort from faculty, staff, visiting artists, industry professionals and alumni.
“The hours are grueling, aesthetics standards are very demanding and we treat the artists like professionals and not students,” said Michael Huber, Director of the Project X course. “This total immersion creates an environment conducive to quality, camaraderie and the highest production value. We believe it’s the best way to learn.”
